Wells Fargo check deposit transaction?

I deposited a check yesterday September 1st at around 2:30pm and it still hasn't gone through at almost 5:00pm today September 2nd. According to their website and info, it should have already gone through. The website says that if you go before 4pm then it should go through that same day and if you go after then it will be done the next day. Furthermore, the transaction date now reads 9/2/11. I know it's only been one day but I should have my money by now. Has anyone else had problems with delayed transactions? Does anyone know why it is taking this long or if it is supposed to take longer? I will call the bank and talk to them if I need to, but I really hate talking to them on the phone. I think they sacked the friendly ppl when they switched from Wachovia to Wells Fargo :/ If anyone has any info or advice for now then I'd appreciate it. Thanks :)|||if the check wasn't local then it will take up to 5 days for the money to show in your account.|||A check can take up to a week to clear, longer if it's drawn on an out-of-state bank. Checks drawn on the same bank clear in 1 day, clear instantly if presented personally. Usually checks clear in a few business days but there is no guarantee. If there is sufficient funds in the account to cover the check in case it doesn't clear, most banks will show the check deposit on your balance within 1 business day, immediatly if presented in person, but there will be a hold on withdrawing the funds until it actually clears. That's why the account balance and "funds available for withdrawel" are not always the same.|||George is right.

Depending on your history with the bank and the amount of the check, they could have placed a hold on the check to ensure that it will clear prior to making the funds available to you. The hold time for a check drawn on a local bank is typically two business days with a five business day hold on checks drawn on out of state banks.

By law, the bank has to make $100 available to you the next business day after the deposit.

How the transaction shows on your bank's website is really up to the bank. My bank puts the funds into the "pending transactions" list until the hold is removed. The best thing to do is get your receipt and call your bank.
