What bank details shouldn't give out when making a transaction (such as over the phone/online)?

Such as the sort code, account number, expiry date, long digits in the middle and the last 3 digits on the back of the card.|||I bank with Abbey %26amp; I used to work for them aswell. I don't know if it's Abbey you're with but most banks operate the same. You need to be in possession of your card before you can make a transfer of money so they ask you to confirm card details.

firstly you will need to give them your account number and sortcode so they can locate your account they'll ask you such security questions to confirm it's you and then proceed to ask you card security. For them to identify your card they'll ask you to confirm some of the details from the front (especially if you have several cards under your name) They also use a system to check the expiry date %26amp; the security code 1) to make sure you are using a valid card %26amp; 2) to check the card is in your possession when you want to make the transfer presumably you are going to be the only person in possession of the card who can answer details on the card %26amp; questions relating to the account.

That's for over the phone.

As for online only your card number and any other security codes you have in relation to your online banking should be entered, you shouldn't confirm these details in an email if it is from 'your bank' these details shouldn't be shared with anyone over the phone %26amp; neither should your pin number.|||The only thing you should never give is the PIN number. All the other details you have listed are safe to give, and necessary, but NEVER the PIN.|||Unless your setting up a Direct Debit you ahould not need to give out your bank sorting code and Account number to any one and yes you give the Long number on the front of the Card, Experie Date, Start Date, Last 3 Digits on the back and if your card has one the issue number.|||As above but only to company you can trust.
