Why did WAMU post transactions this morning and then put yesterdays date on them?

This happens all the time. The previous days transactions are posted early the following morning. If they post the following morning, then why are they dated for yesterday. It doesn't match my register, it's inaccurate... Sometimes, like the night of my direct deposit, they'll input transactions from the day before and overdraft me despite the fact that there was a deposit made at the same time or even earlier.

Does anybody have any hint of an explanation as to why they do this???|||Sometimes transactions will affect your balance, but will really only be pending and not actually hard posted to your account. This goes for purchases and direct deposits. If a purchase hard posts before your pending direct deposit (even though the deposit shows available in your balance), your account will show overdrawn. |||It depends on when the transactions were made and the bank's policy.

Most banks will post transactions made after business hours, or a certain cut off point, on the next business day. But the date of the transaction is still the date it first hit the account.

I have M%26amp;T Bank. All my purchases made with my debit card at 8:00pm show up as undefined transactions the night before and post with full details the following day.

You say that the night of your direct deposit the bank posts transactions from the day before and you get overdrafted. In your case, I'm guessing that based on the time of the =actual= debit transactions, you were overdrafted, even though the full details of the transaction were not posted to your account until the following day, the date your direct deposit was posted.

This is my guess based on how my bank works. To get specifics, and possibly get the overdraft fee waived, you need to call your bank.
